Towards the end of 2020, we were advised by the Department of Basic Education to concentrate our resources and focus our efforts on a single district in one of the most disadvantaged areas in South Africa. This gave rise to our flagship project in Vhembe district in deep rural Limpopo where we are working with 68 schools. Our choice was motivated in large part by the performance of one remarkable individual, Ms. Livhalani Bridget Sinyosi, a teacher from Limpopo, who won the 2020 Continental Best Teacher Award in 2020, proving that passion, commitment and leadership are able to overcome any obstacles. Ms. Sinyosi had been a dedicated champion of digital technology in schools, determined to bridge the digital divide and had pioneered online schooling during the COVID-9 pandemic and resultant lockdowns.
